Joanne L. Queen Memorial Excellence in Education Grant

Joanne Louise Davis Queen was born in San Francisco, California on March 12, 1971. She passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2019. After many years in Seattle, Joanne moved with her family for 10 years to Austin, TX in pursuit of sunshine and warmer weather. In her commitment to educating her family, Jo established the Queen Academy and was active in the Texas HSA (Home School Association) connecting with other homeschoolers to help hone her craft as an educator. In 2017, she returned to the Seattle area with her family.

Joanne was many things to many people. A daughter, sister, loving wife, adoring mother, aunt, line sister, friend, confidant. Joanne was instrumental in the intellectual, physical and spiritual growth and development of her children. She was an incredibly dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Joanne combined a strong work ethic with a constant focus on self improvement, which set an exceptional example for her children and provided them with tools and answers to their many questions. In each of these roles, she shared her genuine happiness bringing a smile to your face and joy in your heart.

To honor Joanne’s legacy, donations received will go to support the Joanne L. Queen Memorial Excellence in Education Grant. This fund will support educational programs focusing on excellence in education grants, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and safety in the District and selected by the Queen family.
